About Kevin
Kevin Abessi built a varied professional foundation before settling into private practice. He holds a J.D. from Albany Law School, an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. in English and Economics from Union College. His law school coursework included business, tax, family, estate, torts, civil procedure and criminal law. His graduate work emphasized corporate finance and investment management.
His early career included a consulting role at Milliman in 2010. He later founded Abessi LLC and served as its president beginning in 2014. A shift to a corporate role followed; in 2019 he was vice president of operations at DriftPilot. In 2020 he established Abessi Law and became its president. Those moves trace a path from consulting and company leadership to the establishment of his own law firm.
Abessi’s credentials cross both legal and financial disciplines. He is a Financial Risk Manager, certified by the Global Association of Risk Professionals, and he holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation. Those credentials reflect formal training in risk measurement, portfolio strategies and alternative investment structures.
He is licensed to practice in New York and holds memberships in the State Bar of New York and the New York State Bar Association. He is also a member of the Albany County Bar Association, a role he has held since 2020. His memberships indicate ongoing engagement with bar activities at both the county and state levels.
The combination of legal education and financial certifications shapes how he approaches matters. His background in business and investment management informs practical assessment of disputes and transactions. His earlier roles in consulting and operations contribute to a practice style that attends to both technical detail and organizational context.
Since forming Abessi Law in 2020, he has managed the firm as its president. He maintains an office under the firm name and continues to draw on his business training and professional certifications in his legal work. His current practice concentrates on matters that intersect law and finance.
