About Kent Alan
Kent Alan Gaertner was a attorney based in Wheaton, Illinois, specializing in bankruptcy law. He earned his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University - Shepard Broad Law Center in 1977 and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1977 and the Illinois Bar in 1978. Throughout his career, Gaertner was deeply involved in both the DuPage County Bar Association (DCBA) and the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).
He served as the president of the DCBA from 2009 to 2010 and was an elected delegate to the ISBA Assembly representing DuPage County. Additionally, he was a member of the ISBA Board of Governors, representing the 18th Judicial Circuit, and served on various committees, including the Commercial Banking, Collections, and Bankruptcy Section Council. Gaertner was also a Silver Fellow in the Illinois Bar Foundation.
In his practice, he was recognized for his expertise in bankruptcy law, earning accolades such as being named one of the "Top Ten Personal Bankruptcy Attorneys in Illinois" by Leading Lawyer Magazine in 2016. He was also AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell and was named the DuPage County Bar Association Lawyer of the Year in 2017. Gaertner passed away on March 2, 2022, at the age of 69.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, and their three adult children. Memorial donations in his honor were directed to the DuPage Legal Aid Foundation and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
