About Kenneth
Kenneth DeCock earned his J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2001. He joined the Wyoming State Bar that same year and has maintained active membership since. The early legal training he received at the university set the stage for a career split between public service and private practice.
His first recorded post after law school was in 2002 as a deputy county and prosecuting lawyer in Campbell County. Two years later he joined Plains Law Offices, LLP as a partner. Records also show a role in 2011 as a Johnson County prosecuting lawyer, followed by continued partnership listings at Plains Law Offices in 2015. Those entries paint a picture of an attorney who has moved between courtroom work for counties and practice at a small firm.
DeCock’s professional memberships reflect his criminal trial work. He has been listed in The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Criminal Trial Lawyers since 2015 and has held membership in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since that same year. He joined the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association in 2012. He is also a member of the Arizona State Bar as of 2014, in addition to maintaining his Wyoming bar membership.
Those years as a prosecutor in Campbell and Johnson counties are balanced by long tenure in private practice. Courtroom work while representing the state gave him firsthand experience in trial procedure, witness preparation, and the practical demands of litigation. In private practice he has handled matters that draw on that prosecutorial background as well as defense work, appearing in state courts across Wyoming.
Colleagues and court records list him most often in matters tied to criminal law, reflecting both his association memberships and his public-sector roles. He has combined prosecutorial responsibilities with the business and client management duties that come with partnership at a regional law office. The pattern of service suggests a lawyer comfortable in both the public and private sides of criminal justice.
He now practices at Plains Law Offices, LLP, where his practice focuses on criminal defense and prosecution-related matters.
