About Kelsey Mackenzie
Kelsey Mackenzie Brown brings a steady, civic-minded presence to the legal community. She combines formal training in law with interests in art history and political science. The result is a lawyer who pays attention to detail and to context.
Brown earned her Juris Doctor from Chapman University Fowler School of Law in 2005. Before that she completed undergraduate studies at the University of Washington School of Law, earning a B.A. in Law, Societies and Justice while also studying art history and political science, finishing in 2000. That combination of coursework shaped an early interest in how law interacts with social institutions and public life.
Her career has been intertwined with regional bar activity and community volunteer work. She holds membership in the Washington State Bar Association and maintains an inactive membership in the California State Bar Association. Locally, she has been active in the Kitsap Young Lawyers Division, where she serves as Social Chair, and she belongs to the Kitsap County Bar Association and the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association. Those roles have kept her visible in the day-to-day life of the county bar and connected to other practitioners.
Brown’s outside activities reflect civic engagement. She has volunteered with the Gig Harbor Film Festival and participated in an Adopt-A-Road program. Since 2010 she has been involved with the Alliance of Women Owned Businesses in a membership recruitment role. These pursuits run alongside her legal work and point to an interest in community institutions beyond the courtroom.
Colleagues describe her approach as pragmatic. Her undergraduate training in Law, Societies and Justice, together with the arts and political science, gives her a broad lens for assessing client issues. She tends to weigh legal arguments against practical outcomes and local norms. The Social Chair position in Kitsap’s young lawyers group also suggests experience organizing peers and managing small events and programs.
Brown is admitted to practice in Washington and maintains an inactive California bar membership. She remains engaged in the Washington legal community through county bar associations and volunteer projects. Her current practice focuses on serving clients in Washington state.
