About Kelly Phillips
Kelly Phillips Erb trained at Temple University Beasley School of Law, earning a J.D. in 1994 and an LL.M. in Taxation in 1998. She pursued advanced study in tax law immediately after earning her law degree, a choice that shaped the arc of her legal career. The additional year of postgraduate study gave her technical grounding in the federal and state tax rules that now underpin her practice.
Her early years in practice were spent as an associate at two firms. In 1997 she joined the Law Offices of John D. Bernetich, where she handled client work that ranged from routine tax filings to more complex compliance questions. In 1999 she moved to Eizen Fineburg & McCarthy LLP, gaining further experience in the demands of firm practice and the needs of business clients.
In 2000 she became the managing lawyer of The Erb Law Office, PC. That step marked a move into solo and small-firm practice and into firm leadership. Running a small firm required balancing client work with the administrative and business aspects of practice. Over time she built a practice that reflects both technical tax knowledge and practical business sense.
Her academic credentials in taxation inform the kinds of matters she handles. She works on tax-related issues for individuals and business owners, drawing on the LL.M. coursework that covered federal tax procedure, corporate and partnership taxation, and related areas. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, which shapes the regulatory and procedural context of her work for clients in both states.
Erb is active in bar association work. She serves as treasurer of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Solo and Small Firm Section. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Women in the Profession Committee and has belonged to the Montgomery County Bar Association since 2014 and the Chester County Bar Association since 2013. Those roles keep her connected to local practice issues and the professional networks that support solo and small-firm lawyers.
Her career blends technical tax training, firm and solo practice experience, and bar leadership. She has balanced client-facing work with the responsibilities of running a law office. In practice she advises clients on tax compliance, planning and dispute matters, and she continues to manage The Erb Law Office, PC. Her current work centers on tax-related representation for individuals and small businesses.
