About Kelly
Kelly Bishop built her academic foundation in Oklahoma. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Oklahoma State University in 1987. Six years later she completed a J.D. at the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1993. Those years of study set the stage for a steady legal career rooted in state and federal practice.
She began practicing law in 1993 at Abel Law Office. Over the years she has maintained ties to that firm while expanding her qualifications to practice before multiple tribunals. Her credentials list admission to the Oklahoma bar and to the federal courts serving Oklahoma, including the Western, Eastern and Northern Districts. She is also admitted to practice before the Tenth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Courtroom work sits alongside professional involvement in Bishop’s career. She holds memberships in several bar and trial groups. Those include the Oklahoma County Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She is a member of the Oklahoma Association for Justice, the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Her participation extends to the American Inns of Court William J. Holloway Inn of Court, a forum that gathers judges and lawyers for mentoring and discussion.
Across decades of practice, Bishop has worked in forums that range from local courthouses to appellate panels. Colleagues describe a lawyer who understands litigation mechanics and courtroom procedure. She has handled matters that required admission to multiple federal districts and to appellate review before the Tenth Circuit. Her admission to the U.S. Supreme Court indicates an additional credential that many practitioners seek later in their careers.
Today she maintains her practice at Abel Law Office. She continues to serve clients in state and federal courts throughout Oklahoma, drawing on long familiarity with the region’s legal landscape. Her current practice focuses on matters pursued in both Oklahoma state courts and the federal courts to which she is admitted.
