About Kellie

Kellie Mannette built her legal foundation at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed a B.A. in political science and mathematics in 2002 and returned to UNC for her J.D., awarded in 2006. Those years in Chapel Hill shaped both her analytical approach and her view of the law as practical problem solving.

Early in her career she joined the Fair Trial Initiative, serving there in 2009 as an Osborn Fellow and lawyer. That position placed her in work aimed at trial fairness and post-trial review, exposing her to complex litigation issues and the mechanics of appellate and remedial processes. The fellowship blended litigation practice with policy-minded work, and it provided intensive courtroom and research experience.

In 2011 she opened the Law Office of Kellie Mannette, PLLC. She has led that office since then, representing clients in matters across North Carolina. Running a small firm required shifting between client advocacy, case management and the administrative demands of practice. Those tasks have given her a broad day-to-day perspective on how cases move from intake to resolution.

Mannette is licensed in North Carolina. Her background combines courtroom exposure from her fellowship years with the varied caseload one encounters in private practice. Colleagues note her practical approach to case planning and an emphasis on clear client communication. She tends to break down complicated legal questions into straightforward options so clients understand the tradeoffs and timelines involved.

People who have worked with her describe a lawyer comfortable in both research and the courtroom. She spends time preparing cases so that client positions are grounded in law and evidence. At the same time she recognizes the realities clients face outside the courtroom and factors those into strategy.

Her professional arc is steady and plainly organized: undergraduate and law degrees from UNC Chapel Hill, an early fellowship that deepened her litigation experience, and the founding of a solo practice in 2011. She remains based in North Carolina and continues to operate the Law Office of Kellie Mannette, PLLC, where her current practice focuses on representing clients in matters throughout the state.
