About Keith

Keith Banks earned his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2013. At McGeorge he concentrated his studies in business law, tax law and international law. Those areas framed much of his classroom work and shaped the questions he pursued in seminars and clinic settings.

His legal education emphasized both the technical rules and the context in which they operate. Courses in tax law taught him how rules affect transactions and client planning. Business law classes covered corporate structures, contracts and regulatory frameworks. International law coursework exposed him to cross-border issues and comparative legal concepts. Together, those subjects create a foundation suited to transactional practice and regulatory matters.

After graduation, Banks moved into legal practice where he applied the methods and analysis developed at law school. His background in tax and business matters informed how he approaches client problems. He tends to break complex issues into manageable parts, identify applicable rules and consider practical consequences for clients. That approach guides how he assesses risk and recommends next steps.

Clients often seek counsel in situations that combine multiple legal disciplines. Financial transactions can raise tax questions. Cross-border deals bring regulatory and commercial considerations. Banks’s training gives him a platform for addressing such overlaps. He uses statutory text, precedent and industry practice to develop options for clients and to explain them in plain terms.

On matters that touch international law, he pays attention to jurisdictional issues and compliance obligations. In tax-related work, he weighs both legal doctrine and administrative practice. In business matters, he considers governance and contract drafting that will serve long-term goals as well as immediate needs. His style is deliberate rather than flashy. He relies on careful analysis and clear communication.

Outside of direct client work, Banks keeps abreast of developments in the subjects that informed his studies. Law changes at the intersection of tax and commerce often require practitioners to reassess standard approaches. He reads recent rulings and agency guidance to stay current and to adjust advice accordingly.

He currently practices law handling matters that relate to his legal training in business, tax and international law.
