About Kedra M.
Kedra M. Gotel began her academic journey in Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Georgia Southern University before attending Western New England University School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctor in 2001. Her time in law school included practical experiences that exposed her to both trial and administrative work. Those early roles shaped the path she would take after graduation.
Her hands-on training started while she was still a student. In 1999 she volunteered as a legal intern with the Atlanta Judicial Circuit Public Defender. The next year she served as a judicial extern at the Hampden County Housing Court and spent a summer as an intern with the Judge Advocate General’s Corps at the Department of Defense. Soon after law school she worked as a Legal Assistant Specialist in 2001 for the Atlanta Circuit Public Defender. These positions gave her direct exposure to courtroom procedure, client advocacy, and legal research in high-pressure public service settings.
After those formative roles, Gotel moved into private practice. She joined The Barnette Law Office, LLC, where she is currently on staff. Over the years she has combined experience from public defense and courtroom internships with the demands of a private practice environment. She is licensed to practice in Georgia and is listed as a member of the State Bar of Georgia.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section since 2020. That affiliation reflects an interest in family law issues and ongoing participation in the broader legal community. She has kept ties to public defense work through earlier roles and carries that perspective into family law matters, where courtroom experience and an understanding of procedural dynamics can be important.
Gotel’s approach to cases draws on a steady record of early public service, timely courtroom exposure, and experience at a private firm. She balances client-facing work with time spent on legal research and case preparation. Colleagues note her familiarity with Georgia practice and procedure, built from years of work inside and outside the courthouse.
She practices law in Georgia and maintains active bar membership. Her current work at The Barnette Law Office, LLC includes handling family law matters.
