About Kaylan
Kaylan Colbert built a path to the law that began in classrooms beyond the courthouse. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Houston in 2008. She then turned to law, receiving her Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2012. Later she returned to graduate study and completed a Master of Arts in Counseling at Texas A&M University–Prairie View in 2016.
Those academic stops shaped how she practices. The communications degree sharpened her ability to explain complex ideas. The law degree provided the doctrinal training needed in court and at counsel’s table. The graduate work in counseling added another layer: an attention to client needs and to the human side of legal problems. Colbert’s background makes for a practice style that blends legal analysis and client interaction.
After law school she entered private practice. Over the following years she developed a routine typical of small firm attorneys: preparing pleadings, handling hearings, meeting clients, and managing case files from intake through disposition. She also joined professional associations tied to the region where she works. She holds memberships in the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the Gate City Bar Association, among others. Those memberships connect her to local trial and bar communities and to ongoing professional development.
Colbert’s work reflects both courtroom and client-facing responsibilities. Peers who have encountered her work note an emphasis on clear communication and steady case management. She is as likely to be preparing a client for testimony as she is to be drafting motions and negotiating resolutions. Her counseling training informs how she assesses client needs under pressure, and it factors into how she plans case strategy and client meetings.
Today she leads a small practice under her own name. The Colbert Law Office, LLC serves as her base of operations. The office handles client matters across the normal range of a private law practice, and Colbert continues to move cases through litigation and resolved matters. She remains active in local bar and trial groups and in continuing legal education. She currently maintains a private practice at The Colbert Law Office, LLC, focusing on client representation and case management.
