About Katy

Katy Stallings began her legal path in Texas, studying political science at Texas A&M University before earning a law degree from Baylor Law School. She completed her undergraduate studies in 2010 and received her J.D. in 2013. Those years set the groundwork for a practice centered on family law and client advocacy in state courts.

Fresh out of law school, Stallings entered the family law arena. Early in her career she worked at Proffitt & Associates in 2014, where she handled cases ranging from divorce proceedings to custody disputes. The work demanded quick legal research, careful negotiation and steady courtroom presence. She learned to manage emotionally charged matters while keeping legal strategy clear and practical.

Over time Stallings built on that early experience. By 2020 she joined Ward Myers, taking on a broader caseload and more complex family law matters. Her time there has involved contested divorces, child custody and visitation arrangements, spousal support issues and modifications of existing court orders. Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing cases and attentive to procedural detail. Clients tend to see her as straightforward and accessible, someone who explains options without unnecessary legal jargon.

Stallings practices exclusively in Texas courts. She maintains familiarity with state statutes and local family court procedures. That local grounding informs how she approaches negotiations and trials. She often balances settlement efforts with readiness to litigate when a client’s interests require it. Her courtroom experience includes hearings on temporary orders, evidentiary matters and final trials.

Her approach to client work is practical. She aims to identify realistic outcomes early and to map steps toward reaching them. That sometimes means pursuing negotiation first, and other times preparing thoroughly for trial or post-judgment enforcement. The emphasis is on clarity—for clients and for the court record.

Outside casework, Stallings keeps up with developments in Texas family law. She reads recent opinions and tracks statutory changes that affect custody, support and property division. That habit helps her adjust strategy when the legal landscape shifts.

As of 2026, Stallings is part of the Ward Myers office in Texas. She continues to handle family law matters for clients across the state, concentrating on divorce, custody, support and related post‑judgment proceedings.
