About Katy

Katy Haggard built her legal foundation at Belmont University College of Law, where she completed her Juris Doctor. Her time in law school shaped a practical approach to legal problems. She emerged ready to handle the demands of litigation and transactional work alike.

After law school Haggard joined Freeman & Fuson as an associate lawyer. In that role she has taken on a mix of responsibilities common to mid‑sized firm practice. She prepares court filings, drafts motions and briefs, handles discovery tasks, and supports trial preparation. Colleagues describe her as steady in the routine of case management and alert when issues require quick escalation.

Haggard spends a great deal of time on legal research and writing. She assembles factual records, analyzes statutes and precedent, and translates that material into documents judges and opposing counsel can use. She also meets with clients to gather facts and explain procedural steps. Those meetings tend to be direct and practical. She focuses on clear timelines, next steps, and realistic outcomes.

On any given day Haggard moves between the office and the courthouse. She files pleadings, negotiates discovery schedules, and participates in pretrial conferences. Her courtroom appearances are typically procedural and evidentiary. She assists senior attorneys in trials and takes lead roles in hearings when the case requires it. The practical experience has sharpened her eye for procedural detail and time management under deadlines.

Outside of courtrooms and conference rooms Haggard contributes to the firm’s case strategy meetings and helps train junior staff on drafting standards and filing practices. Her work emphasizes accuracy in documentation and diligence on deadlines. She also takes part in client intake and helps set expectations at the outset of representation.

Colleagues and clients value Haggard for straightforward communication and a methodical work style. She approaches each matter by breaking issues into manageable tasks and tracking progress against court calendars. That approach can reduce surprises and keeps cases moving.

She is licensed to practice in Tennessee and continues to serve clients through her role at Freeman & Fuson. Her current practice focuses on providing litigation support and client counseling at Freeman & Fuson.
