About Katie D.
Katie D. Bell earned her degrees at Louisiana State University and its Paul M. Hebert Law Center. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 2002 and returned to the law center to take both a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Civil Law, each awarded in 2005. Her academic path combined civil law study with the broader professional training provided by the J.D. program.
She joined Kean Miller LLP in 2005 and serves there as a partner. Over the years she has handled matters that require appearances in both state and federal courts. Her admissions include the Louisiana bar, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States district courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana. These credentials allow her to represent clients at multiple levels of the judiciary.
Bell belongs to several professional organizations. She holds memberships in the Louisiana State Bar, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. She is also a member of the Federal Bar Association and the Wex S. Malone American Inn of Court. Those memberships indicate ongoing ties to the legal community in Louisiana and beyond, and they provide regular opportunities for continuing legal education and peer engagement.
At Kean Miller, Bell’s role has included counseling clients, preparing pleadings and managing litigation that proceeds through federal and state fora. Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing cases and concise in court filings. She has worked on matters that require coordination across district lines and on appeals where the Fifth Circuit has jurisdiction. Her courtroom experience covers preliminary motions, discovery disputes and hearings before both trial and appellate panels.
Outside the courtroom, Bell’s training in civil law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center informs her approach to statutory and procedural questions that arise in Louisiana practice. Her combined civil law and common law education provides a background useful in the state’s mixed legal system.
She continues to practice at Kean Miller LLP, representing clients in state and federal courts and maintaining memberships in local and national bar organizations.
