About Kathryn L. Van

Kathryn L. Van Hooser took an uncommon path into the law. She began her studies in the natural sciences, then moved into legal training. The combination has shaped how she approaches problems and how she explains complex material to clients and colleagues.

She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of Virginia. That background in scientific study preceded a law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law. Those two institutions anchored her formal education and gave her both a technical grounding and legal training.

After law school she established her practice in Virginia. She is admitted to practice in that jurisdiction. Over the years she has handled matters that require careful analysis and close attention to procedural detail. Colleagues describe her as methodical; clients value clear, direct explanations about what to expect at each stage of a case.

Her scientific training still shows up in her work. It has influenced the way she reads technical records, questions witnesses and structures arguments. She combines that approach with courtroom experience and written advocacy. She has represented individuals and organizations in filings and hearings, drafting motions and preparing evidence. She emphasizes clear factual narratives and orderly presentation of documents.

Outside of hearings and briefs she spends time preparing clients for each encounter with the legal system. She prefers practical solutions that reduce uncertainty and move matters forward. She also invests effort in keeping clients informed about procedural developments and deadlines.

Van Hooser’s academic background and legal training make her comfortable handling cases that intersect with technical or scientific documentation. She works in the Virginia legal community and maintains a practice that reflects both her undergraduate study and her legal education. Her current practice is centered in Virginia.
