About Kathryn Kamenski
Kathryn Kamenski Hoyt earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2010 and a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2014. She completed law school after an undergraduate course of study that emphasized government and public policy. Her academic record set the stage for a career that has crossed private practice and legal education.
While still in law school, Hoyt served as a law clerk at Thorsnes Bartolotta McGuire in 2013. That early position gave her hands-on exposure to courtroom procedures and firm operations. The role was a formative step that bridged classroom learning and daily practice.
After earning her law degree, Hoyt joined Hanna Brophy as an associate in 2014. She handled client matters, conducted legal research, drafted pleadings and motions, and supported litigation tasks. In 2018 she moved to Lagasse Branch Bell + Kinkead LLP, where she continued in an associate capacity. Across both firms she worked on a range of case preparation activities, coordinated with clients, and participated in courtroom appearances when appropriate.
Her practice experience has run alongside contributions to the legal community. In 2023, she returned to the University of San Diego School of Law as an adjunct professor. In the classroom she teaches law students and draws on her practical work to illustrate legal processes and advocacy. Students encounter both doctrinal instruction and examples taken from real-world practice.
