About Kathleen
Kathleen Hunt is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 2004. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. Hunt is the founder and principal attorney at Unique Law, a law firm located in El Cerrito, California. She has been practicing law for over 22 years, serving clients throughout the greater Bay Area.
Ms. Hunt earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where she graduated in 2003. During her time at Hastings, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Hastings Communication & Entertainment Law Journal. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1990. She also obtained a Master of Science in Education from California State University, Hayward, in 1993, and holds single-subject and multiple-subject teaching credentials, as well as a Certificate in Children's Literature.
Ms. Hunt concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning and probate law. She provides services including guardianship and conservatorship estate administration, health care directives, trusts, and wills. Her practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, including initial case evaluation, drafting of legal documents, negotiations, and court proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout her career, Ms. Hunt has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Contra Costa, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding her own firm, she worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in El Cerrito for several years.
Ms. Hunt is an active member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association and the California State Bar Association. She has served on the Board of Directors for several nonprofit organizations, including the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco, the Feilding Foundation, and the El Cerrito Rotary Club. She is also a certified mediator through the Better Business Bureau Auto-Line program. Ms. Hunt is fluent in English, allowing her to serve the diverse communities of the Bay Area effectively.
