About Katherine Stotler
Katherine Stotler Bayt earned her J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2002. She completed her legal education in Bloomington and entered the profession during a period of change for employment and business regulation. Those early years shaped how she approaches casework and client advice today.
After law school, Bayt established her practice in Indiana. She is admitted to practice law in that state and built her career in private practice. Over time she joined Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart PC, where she now works as an attorney. Her tenure at the firm places her within a national platform while keeping her work anchored in Indiana matters.
Bayt’s work blends counseling and dispute resolution. She spends time preparing legal analysis, advising clients on compliance questions, and handling contested matters when they arise. Her day-to-day combines drafting and negotiating documents, conducting internal investigations, and preparing filings and responses for administrative or court processes. Colleagues describe her as practical in approach and attentive to the procedural details that influence outcomes.
Professional involvement has been a steady part of Bayt’s career. She has participated in bar and industry activities since at least 2012, serving on committees and attending educational programs to stay current on legal developments. That engagement informs her practice and keeps her connected to the changing landscape of state and federal rules that affect clients.
Outside of casework, Bayt contributes to firm initiatives and mentoring. She takes part in training junior attorneys and collaborates on multi-office matters when cases extend beyond Indiana. Her practice is informed by nearly a quarter century in the law, a period that has included shifts in regulation, litigation strategies, and workplace norms.
Bayt maintains an active practice in Indiana and continues to handle a mix of advisory and contested matters at Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart PC, providing counseling, litigation, and transactional support to clients.
