About Katherine Barrett

Katherine Barrett Brewer built her legal foundation at Wittenberg University and completed her law degree at Capital University Law School in 2008. Her time in Columbus coincided with classroom study and the practical demands of a modern law curriculum. She left law school with a J.D. in hand and an intent to practice in Ohio.

After earning her degree, Brewer began her career in Ohio’s legal community. She moved into practice work that required frequent contact with state courts and administrative processes. Early years in practice grounded her in the day-to-day tasks of client counseling, document preparation and courtroom procedure. Those years also taught her how to balance casework with the administrative responsibilities that come with running matters for individuals and organizations.

Over time Brewer broadened the scope of her work. She developed experience handling matters that arise under Ohio law and learned to adapt to shifting procedural rules and local court practices. Her work has required negotiating settlements, preparing pleadings and advocating before judges and mediators. Colleagues describe her approach as steady and methodical; she relies on plain language when explaining legal options. She has maintained ties to the legal community in Ohio through professional contacts and continuing education.

Brewer currently practices at Wood & Brewer, LLC. At the firm she maintains a caseload rooted in issues that come before Ohio tribunals and regulatory bodies. She represents clients in filings and hearings, advises on compliance questions and manages litigation and transactional matters as they emerge. Her role at the firm mixes client-facing work with case management and courtroom appearances.

Outside the courtroom she keeps up with developments in state law and participates in local bar activities. She reads judicial opinions and rule changes carefully, preferring direct engagement with the primary sources. That habit informs the advice she gives clients and the strategies she selects when cases proceed to trial or settlement discussions.

At Wood & Brewer, LLC, Brewer continues to practice in Ohio, handling legal matters that arise under state law and representing both individuals and organizations in court and at administrative hearings.
