About Kate

Kate Nicholson graduated from Harvard Law School and built a practice in Massachusetts focused on bankruptcy and insolvency matters. She took an academic path that prepared her for courtroom work and complex procedural challenges. Colleagues describe her as steady and exacting in legal analysis.

Her career has been anchored in the Boston legal community. She is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and has been active in the Boston Bar Association for many years. Within the Boston Bar she has served on several committees, including the Bankruptcy Section Steering Committee and the Solo and Small Firm Section Steering Committee. Her committee work dates back to at least 2013 and includes roles as Consumer Bankruptcy Committee Co-chair from 2013 to 2015, Education Committee Co-chair from 2015 to 2016, and Bankruptcy Section Public Service Co-Chair from 2017 to 2020.

Nicholson’s involvement in those committees reflects steady engagement with both practitioner education and public service. She has helped organize educational programming and has been involved in committee efforts that shape how bankruptcy practice is discussed among local attorneys. Her committee roles also indicate familiarity with consumer bankruptcy issues and with the concerns of solo and small-firm practitioners.

Her day-to-day practice is based at Nicholson P.C. There she handles matters arising under the Bankruptcy Code and related state-law issues. She works on cases for individuals and small businesses, managing filings and procedural strategy. She also participates in local bar activities that address access to legal services and the educational needs of practitioners.

Outside firm practice, Nicholson maintains memberships that keep her connected to developments in the bankruptcy field. The American Bankruptcy Institute provides a national forum for recent developments in insolvency law. The Boston Bar Association has been the platform for much of her local volunteer work and committee leadership. Those memberships inform both her courtroom practice and the workshops she helps run for peers.

Her approach is methodical. She aims for clear pleadings and careful case planning. Clients and colleagues find that approach translates into manageable litigation calendars and predictable deadlines.

She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and continues to work at Nicholson P.C., concentrating on bankruptcy and insolvency matters in the state.
