About Kate
Kate Eckhart built her path to law on a foundation in economics and a steady march through legal training. She earned a B.A. in economics from the College of the Holy Cross in 2009 and completed her J.D. at South Texas College of Law in 2013. Those years shaped how she approaches problems: methodically and with attention to numbers as well as words.
She began her professional career outside the typical clerkship route. In 2013 she worked as an associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. That role placed her at the intersection of finance and compliance early on. It also gave her experience working inside a large professional services firm, where teams manage complex client needs under tight deadlines.
After moving into private practice, she established her practice in Texas. She is admitted to practice in the state and has handled matters that draw on both her legal training and her economics background. Colleagues describe her style as pragmatic. She tends to break problems down into concrete steps and looks for solutions that make sense financially as well as legally.
Her work reflects a mix of analytical rigor and practical problem solving. She is comfortable reading financial records and translating them into legal issues. That skill set can be useful where business decisions and regulatory requirements overlap. In client meetings she often focuses on explaining trade-offs in plain language so nonlawyers can weigh options and risks.
Today she is part of MehaffyWeber, working from the firm’s Texas offices. Her practice has evolved to handle matters typical for lawyers who blend business and law: advising clients on transactions, compliance questions and disputes that arise from commercial activity. She takes a hands-on approach to case preparation and client counseling, favoring clear plans over abstract legal theory.
She continues to practice in Texas at MehaffyWeber, advising clients on business and regulatory matters.
