About Karina Garcia
Karina Garcia Herhusky built a law career that mixes courtroom work, public defense and private practice. She moves between case files and client meetings with equal attention. Colleagues describe her as organized and direct; clients see someone willing to explain complex processes in plain language.
Herhusky prepared for law school with a foundation in paralegal studies. She earned an A.A. in Paralegal Technology from Fayetteville Technical Community College in 2006 and a B.S. in Paralegal Studies from Peirce College in 2008. She continued her legal education at North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 2016.
Her early career combined legal support work and instruction. She taught online Spanish in 2012 for Mid Atlantic Professionals, Inc., an experience that later proved useful with Spanish-speaking clients. In 2015 she worked as a legal assistant at Legal Aid of North Carolina, taking on support tasks that exposed her to client intake and public-interest matters. The next year she spent time as a document reviewer with Consilio LLC, handling records and production tasks for litigation teams.
After law school, Herhusky moved into lawyer roles in 2018. That year she worked at Matheson and Associates, PLLC and served in the Durham County Public Defender’s Office. Those positions gave her courtroom experience and client advocacy in criminal matters. In 2019 she opened Herhusky Law Office, PLLC, where she serves as managing lawyer and handles the firm’s day-to-day operations.
Herhusky holds admission in North Carolina and has authority to appear before the Tenth Circuit. She belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Wake County Bar Association, the North Carolina Society of Hispanic Professionals and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. Those memberships connect her to colleagues across disciplines and offer continuing education opportunities.
Her background spans public defense, legal aid and private practice. She brings experience in client representation, courtroom procedure and document management. Bilingual ability and earlier work as a Spanish instructor inform how she communicates with clients who prefer Spanish.
She operates Herhusky Law Office, PLLC, where her practice includes immigration matters and criminal defense work.
