About Karina

Karina Duvall built a law career across three legal systems. She trained in Ukraine and Russia, and later continued her studies in the United States. Her academic record includes a J.D. from St. Petersburg State University, an LL.M. from Hofstra University, and a Juris Master in Government Contracts and Regulations from George Mason University School of Law.

Her early years were spent inside court systems in Eastern Europe. Records show work in the Ukrainian court system in Kharkov in the early 1990s and later in the Russian court system in Saint Petersburg. By 1999 she was identified as a lawyer at law in Saint Petersburg, handling matters under Russian law and representing clients within that jurisdiction.

Duvall relocated her practice to the United States and established credentials there as well. She became a licensed foreign legal consultant in New York State in 2009 and received a commission as a Notary Public of New York State in 2018. The Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department, of the New York Supreme Court has recognized her as a legal consultant for both Ukrainian and Russian law. Those registrations permit her to advise on questions of foreign law before New York tribunals and to assist clients whose matters cross national boundaries.

Her academic work in American legal studies and government contracts supplements a practical background in civil law systems. She has combined training in Russian and Ukrainian substantive law with postgraduate study in American law. That mix has shaped the types of matters she accepts and how she prepares work that must interface with U.S. procedural rules.

Duvall’s practice has gravitated toward cases that require experience with Russian and Ukrainian law and an understanding of how those systems interact with New York practice. She handles documentation and advisory work tied to those legal systems and represents clients whose disputes involve elements in more than one country. Her office is listed as Russian-Divorce PC, where she undertakes matters that connect foreign legal issues to proceedings in New York.

At present she is based at Russian-Divorce PC and continues to serve clients on matters that raise Russian and Ukrainian legal questions and their intersection with New York proceedings.
