About Kari
Kari Petrasek is a solo attorney based in Mukilteo, Washington, where she specializes in family law. Her practice areas include divorce, estate planning, elder law, and juvenile law. In January 2015, she founded Petrasek Law, PLLC, after accumulating 13 years of experience working in several small firms in Everett. This transition allowed her to focus on providing personalized legal services to her clients. Ms. Petrasek earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Seattle University School of Law in 2002. Prior to that, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Criminal Justice, International Management, and German from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1999.
Since becoming licensed to practice law in Washington in 2002, she has actively contributed to the legal community as a member of the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA). In 2022, Ms. Petrasek was elected to the WSBA Board of Governors, representing District 2. Her leadership role continued as she was re-elected in 2025 and subsequently elected treasurer of the WSBA in 2024. In 2025, she will assume the role of president-elect for the 2025-2026 term. These positions reflect her commitment to advancing the interests of the legal profession and her dedication to serving her fellow attorneys. Beyond her private practice, Ms.
Petrasek is a passionate advocate for children. She has volunteered as an attorney guardian ad litem for dependent children, providing crucial legal representation in the best interests of minors. For over 15 years, she has been a Snohomish County CASA Program attorney, working tirelessly to support vulnerable youth. Since 2010, she has also served as a judge and commissioner pro tempore for Snohomish County Superior Court, presiding over cases involving juvenile law, guardianships, estate planning, elder law, and family law matters. Ms. Petrasek has held several leadership roles within the legal community, showcasing her commitment to professional development. She is a past chair of the WSBA Solo & Small Practice Section and serves as treasurer of Washington Women Lawyers.
Additionally, she has held the positions of president and treasurer of the Snohomish County Bar Association. As a member of the Washington State CASA Association, she continues to advocate for children’s rights. Furthermore, she is a leader in the ABA GPSolo Division and dedicates her time to coaching the Archbishop Murphy High School Mock Trial teams. In her personal life, Ms. Petrasek enjoys skiing, golfing, football, and baseball, balancing her professional commitments with her love for outdoor activities and sports.
