About Karen (Xiaorong)

Karen (Xiaorong) Chen began her path in law with academic training in China before extending her studies to the United States. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Xiangtan University and an M.L. from Xiamen University. She later earned an LL.M. from Santa Clara University School of Law, adding U.S. legal study to her earlier degrees.

Her education informs how she approaches cases. After completing her LL.M., Chen took a role as a lawyer at Structure Law Group, LLP. At the firm she has handled matters that require attention to statutory and regulatory detail. Colleagues describe her as methodical in her preparation and clear in her explanations.

Chen is an active member of the State Bar of California. That membership authorizes her to practice law in the state and shapes the scope of the matters she accepts. She works with clients who need counsel under California law and those who encounter cross-border questions that touch on both U.S. and Chinese legal considerations.

Her background gives her perspective on how different legal systems operate. She draws on coursework and comparative study from her time at Xiamen University and Santa Clara when advising clients. This perspective is often useful in transactions or disputes that involve parties or issues spanning jurisdictions.

Today Chen practices at Structure Law Group, LLP in California. She concentrates on legal matters that arise for clients in the state and on issues that cross between U.S. and Chinese commercial or regulatory contexts. She continues to maintain her State Bar of California membership and to serve the firm’s clients from that base.
