About Karen Venice

Karen Venice Bryan earned her law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, receiving her J.D. in 2014. She attended the school during a period of rigorous clinical offerings and a growing emphasis on practical skills training. The academic foundation she built there set the stage for a career spent largely in Minnesota courts.

Soon after graduation she entered practice in the state. Over the years she secured admission to the Minnesota bar and later gained credentials to appear in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Those admissions allowed her to handle matters at both the trial level and on appeal. Courtroom appearances and briefing in federal and appellate settings have been a recurring part of her work.

Her early career involved a mix of court work and client counseling. She spent time developing litigation skills, preparing pleadings, conducting discovery and representing clients at hearings. She also handled motion practice in federal court and filed appellate briefs in the Eighth Circuit. Colleagues describe her approach as methodical. She tends to break complex problems into manageable parts and address each with careful analysis.

In practice she has balanced written work with oral advocacy. Preparing concise briefs and presenting arguments to judges have been regular duties. She is familiar with procedural rules at the district and circuit levels and has navigated the filing and briefing schedules those courts impose. That procedural fluency informs how she manages cases from start to finish.

She currently operates from the Law Office of Karren Bryan. In that setting she manages client matters that proceed in state and federal forums. The office handles litigation tasks, court appearances and appellate work tied to cases in Minnesota. She maintains professional ties in the region and continues to appear in federal and state court when her clients’ matters require it.

Since earning her degree in 2014 she has built a practice anchored in courtroom work and appellate advocacy. Her current practice focuses on matters in Minnesota state and federal courts.
