About Karen

Karen Klein combined a liberal arts education and professional legal training early in her career. She earned a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor. She then turned to law and received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law. While at Boston University she later returned for a Mini-MBA Business Certificate in 2008, a program that supplemented her legal studies with courses in finance and organizational strategy.

Her academic background shaped how she approaches legal work. The study of English sharpened her attention to language and argument. Law school added procedural rigor and case analysis. The Mini-MBA introduced basic business concepts and financial literacy. Those three strands—writing, legal method, and business awareness—inform the way she prepares pleadings and counsels clients.

Klein is admitted to practice in Washington and is also admitted to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Admission to the Ninth Circuit allows her to participate in federal appellate proceedings that arise from the western states covered by that court. Being licensed in Washington gives her access to both local trial courts and state-level appellate matters.

Colleagues describe her work as thorough and deliberately paced. She tends to favor careful preparation over rapid production. Court filings show an attention to citation and structure that reflects her training in English and law. In settings that require clearer written advocacy, that combination of skills often becomes visible in briefs and motions.

Outside of court work, her Mini-MBA training helps when legal problems intersect with commercial concerns. She can explain basic business concepts in plain terms and assess how financial elements might shape a legal strategy. That practical side of her education helps when clients weigh the costs and benefits of litigation, settlement, or alternative dispute resolution.

Press accounts or public records do not list high-profile cases under her name. Nonetheless, she maintains an active practice and appears in matters that require admission to both the Washington bar and the Ninth Circuit. Her career path reflects steady attention to craft rather than publicity.

She practices in Washington and appears in both state and federal courts, including matters that reach the Ninth Circuit.
