About Kara S.
Kara S. Holtz studied rhetoric and legal studies at the University of California, Berkeley before spending time at Oxford University in a program on the European Economic Community. She completed her legal education at Golden Gate University School of Law, earning a Juris Doctorate and preparing for practice in California.
After law school, Holtz entered practice in California and built a practice that combines courtroom work with client counseling. She is admitted to practice in the state of California and has pursued professional development through several regional and national bar organizations. Her background in rhetoric informs how she frames arguments and explains complex legal issues to clients and judges alike.
Holtz’s professional affiliations are broad. She holds membership in the American Bar Association and several county bar groups, including San Mateo, Marin and Santa Clara. She is also a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco and participates in alumni activities through the Cal Alumni Association. Among national professional honors, she is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, Order of Justitia.
Since 2015 she has been associated with the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists. That connection reflects time spent on family law matters and on litigation related to family court. Over the years she has handled contested hearings and negotiated settlements, working on issues that commonly arise in family cases.
Her approach to a case is methodical. She draws on legal training, courtroom experience and a background in rhetoric to evaluate legal positions and present them clearly. She balances litigation preparedness with efforts to reach resolution when a negotiated outcome better serves a client’s needs. Colleagues describe her as thorough; clients note clear explanations and steady preparation.
Holtz practices from Holtz Law, where she manages matters that include family law and related litigation. She remains active in local and national bar associations and in professional groups that concentrate on litigation and family law practice. She currently focuses her practice on family law and associated litigation matters.
