About Kara
Kara Reagan is a dedicated family law attorney based in Bloomington, Indiana. She earned her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2005. Prior to her legal education, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Environmental Studies, with High Distinction, from Indiana University in 2000. Additionally, she holds a minor in Spanish, which enhances her ability to communicate effectively with clients. Since 2005, she has been practicing law in Indiana, building a solid foundation in family law. In 2018, Kara co-founded Schulz Reagan, LLC, where she focuses exclusively on family law matters — Her practice encompasses many issues, including divorce, child custody, child support, and adoption cases.
As a registered Domestic Relations Mediator, she frequently facilitates negotiations between parties, helping them reach amicable resolutions. Furthermore, she serves as a Guardian ad Litem, representing children's best interests in court proceedings. This role shows her commitment to advocating for vulnerable populations within the legal system. Kara has been trained in the Collaborative process for family law matters since 2008, which allows her to offer clients alternative dispute resolution options. This approach emphasizes cooperation and communication, often leading to more satisfactory outcomes for families. Before establishing Schulz Reagan, LLC, she spent over twelve years with Stafford Law Office, LLC, primarily practicing family law.
During her tenure there, she developed a reputation for her thorough research and drafting skills, which are essential in navigating complex family law issues. Her proficiency in Spanish not only broadens her client base but also allows her to provide more personalized service to Spanish-speaking clients. In addition to her family law practice, Kara has been involved in environmental law cases, reflecting her academic background in Biology and Environmental Studies. This unique combination of expertise enables her to approach legal challenges from multiple perspectives, benefiting her clients in various ways. Kara is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Indiana State Bar, the Indiana Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), and the Bloomington Association of Collaborative Professionals (BACP). She has also served as the Past-President of the Board of Directors for the Indiana Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
Her involvement in these organizations has provided her with valuable insights into effectively resolving family conflicts. In recognition of her commitment to pro bono work, she received the Indiana University Maurer School of Law Pro Bono Award in 2013. Additionally, she was recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2014. Outside of her legal practice, Kara enjoys quilting, camping, and hiking with her family. She lives in Bloomington with her husband and their two children, and she actively volunteers at her daughters' schools while leading a multi-age Girl Scout troop.
