About K. Lynn
K. Lynn Carter earned her law degree from Charlotte School of Law in 2015 after completing undergraduate studies in English at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 1997. Her academic path combined a humanities background with legal training, giving her a steady progression into courtroom work and client representation.
Early in her legal career Carter gained hands-on experience in both private practice and the federal judiciary. In 2012 she served as a law clerk at McCabe, Trotter & Beverly, P.C., where she assisted on research and case preparation. She then spent time as a judicial intern in the federal and state appellate systems, working for Judge Albert Diaz at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in 2014, and for Judge Robert C. Conrad at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina and Judge Wanda G. Bryant at the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 2015. Those placements exposed her to appellate briefs, oral argument preparation, and the mechanics of federal and state court procedures.
Carter is connected to several professional and community organizations. She has held membership in the American Bar Association since 2013 and has been listed as a member of the State Bar of Maryland since 2016. She joined the Anne Arundel County Bar Association and the NAACP in 2016 and, beginning in 2017, maintained ties to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. These affiliations reflect steady engagement with both local legal institutions and broader professional networks.
Her practice locations are listed under The Carter Law Office, LLC. Over the years she has combined courtroom duties with client counseling, drawing on the procedural familiarity developed during her clerkships and internships. Courtroom experience at multiple levels of the judiciary informs how she prepares filings and presents matters for judges and opposing counsel.
Colleagues and clients describe her approach as straightforward and focused on careful preparation. She handles filings and court appearances in Maryland and has experience addressing issues that travel between state and federal dockets because of her earlier federal internships and federal court connections.
She currently practices at The Carter Law Office, LLC, where her work concentrates on representing clients in Maryland state and federal courts.
