About Justin
Justin Prusiensky took an uncommon route to the practice of law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Appalachian State University in 2007 and later completed a Juris Doctor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, receiving his degree in 2022. The combination of formal legal training and a background in accounting has shaped his professional path.
He entered the professional world as an accountant. He became a certified public accountant in North Carolina in 2013 and rose to a leadership role at GP CPA, serving as managing shareholder beginning in 2018. Those years in public accounting involved client advisory, financial reporting and practice management. The work required attention to detail and steady engagement with regulatory and tax questions.
After earning his law degree, he moved into legal practice. In 2023 he took on a role as a lawyer with Prus Law, P.C. The same year he served as special counsel at Central Carolina Legal & Advisory Services. Those positions mark a rapid transition from accounting leadership to roles that blend legal work and business advising. Colleagues describe this phase as one in which he began to apply accounting experience to legal problem solving.
His credentials include licensure as a North Carolina certified public accountant. He is also admitted to practice law in North Carolina. That dual credentialing informs how he approaches client matters. He tends to look at financial records and legal claims through both technical and practical lenses. This often makes him a resource for clients whose issues sit at the intersection of business and law.
Prusiensky’s background is practical rather than academic. He spent years running and managing a CPA practice before shifting into law, and that day-to-day managerial experience factors into his legal work. He understands deadlines, client communications and how businesses operate behind the scenes. Those insights guide his approach when drafting agreements, reviewing financial disclosures or advising small businesses.
He currently practices at Prus Law PC and maintains ties to the accounting community. In his legal work he draws on his accounting training when matters involve finance, taxes or business operations. His practice in North Carolina centers on legal matters that connect to business and financial issues.
