About Judge Katherine
Judge Katherine Dupuis is a retired jurist based in Westfield, New Jersey, with a distinguished career in mediation and arbitration. Her expertise encompasses commercial disputes, estate matters, probate mediation, and divorce mediation. In 1978, she earned her Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law, following her Bachelor of Arts degree from Chestnut Hill College in 1972. Judge Dupuis was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar on March 6, 1993, starting her formal legal career. Before her retirement, Judge Dupuis held the position of Presiding Judge of the Chancery, Probate, and Family Divisions of the Superior Court of New Jersey in Union County.
During her tenure, she managed a diverse array of cases, including stockholder derivative suits, will contests, real estate disputes, and business valuations. Her involvement in family law matters was particularly noteworthy, leading to her recognition with the William McCloud Award for her outstanding commitment to the Family Division. This accolade highlights her significant contributions to the judicial system and her dedication to serving the community. Beyond her judicial responsibilities, Judge Dupuis actively engaged with several professional organizations. She was a member of the Richard Hughes Inn of Court, the Union County Bar Association, and the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Within the State Bar, she contributed to the Family, Alternate Dispute Resolution, and LGBT Sections. Her leadership extended to the Supreme Court Committee on Outside Activities. She served on various initiatives, and she chaired the Judicial Education Committee for the Family Part, enhancing the educational resources available to her peers. Following her retirement, Judge Dupuis joined Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper, P.C. Here, she focuses on providing mediation and arbitration services, continuing her commitment to alternative dispute resolution.
In May 2023, she was appointed to the American Arbitration Association’s Roster of Arbitrators, evidence of her expertise and reputation in the field. This role allows her to influence the resolution of disputes while drawing on her extensive judicial experience. Judge Dupuis has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America© for Family Law Mediation from 2022 to 2026, underscoring her standing in the legal community.
