About Jude
Jude Kerrison began his professional path in business before turning to law. He earned a B.B.A. in Business Management from Boston College and later received his J.D. from Roger Williams University. Those academic choices gave him grounding in both the practical and procedural sides of legal work. He built classroom foundations that would inform his courtroom approach.
After law school, Kerrison secured admission to practice in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Those credentials have allowed him to handle matters at both the state and federal levels. Over time he has balanced courtroom appearances with motion practice and client counseling.
Kerrison is active in professional circles. He holds memberships in the Rhode Island Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice. He also participates in the Newport County Bar Association and is a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Those affiliations keep him connected to peers and to local legal developments. They also reflect a continued engagement with the legal community beyond the courtroom.
He practices at Karns Law Group, operating from the firm’s main office and a Middletown office. At the firm he takes on litigation tasks that require both court filings and direct client contact. His work involves preparing cases for trial, briefing dispositive motions, and appearing in hearings. Colleagues describe him as steady in court and methodical in preparation. Clients encounter a lawyer who prioritizes clarity when explaining legal steps and potential outcomes.
Outside of hearings and filings, Kerrison has contributed to local bar events and educational sessions. He has remained involved in opportunities that bring judges, attorneys, and the public into conversation about the law. That public-facing aspect of his career complements the casework he handles day to day.
Today he continues at Karns Law Group, representing clients in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and appearing when necessary in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island. His current practice focuses on litigating matters in those jurisdictions and providing courtroom representation for clients in state and federal forums.
