About Josue
Josue Monrouzeau combined study and practical experience early in his career. He earned a J.D. from Florida A&M University College of Law after completing an MBA in Health Services Administration at the University of Puerto Rico - Ciencias Médicas and a B.B.A. in Business from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. Those credentials set a varied academic foundation that crosses law, health administration and business.
He cut his legal teeth in clinic work. As a certified legal intern in Florida A&M’s Criminal Defense Clinic he handled court appearances and case preparation under supervision. He later served as an assistant public defender in Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit. That trial-side work gave him frequent courtroom exposure and hands-on motion practice on behalf of clients facing criminal charges. Early staff roles included time as a legal assistant at Arwani Nava Law, PLLC., where he supported litigation and client intake.
Monrouzeau’s career also moved beyond the courthouse. He spent several seasons in sports management as general manager of the Capitanes de Arecibo and launched True Sports International, Inc., serving as its president. Those roles involved contract negotiation, organizational oversight and engagement with stakeholders in both Puerto Rico and the mainland United States. He has also taken on nonprofit governance, including a period as chair of the board of directors at Hospicio La Paz, Inc.
In private practice he founded One Legal Team, PLLC. and serves as its managing partner. The firm handles matters across state and federal forums. Monrouzeau is admitted to practice in Florida and to practice before several federal courts, including the United States District Court of Puerto Rico and the United States District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. That combination of admissions allows him to file and appear on a range of matters for clients with multi-jurisdictional concerns.
His formal certification as a legal intern in a criminal defense clinic remains part of his professional record. He also holds memberships in the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Health Care Compliance Association, reflecting interests that span immigration, health law and regulatory compliance. Those memberships sit beside a practical background in defense work, transactional matters linked to sports and business, and nonprofit leadership.
Monrouzeau maintains a practice that blends litigation and transactional work across immigration, health-related regulatory matters and general business law. He practices through One Legal Team, PLLC., and handles cases in both state and federal courts.
