About Joshua
Joshua Strief built his legal foundation at Drake University Law School, where he completed his J.D. in 2014 after beginning studies in 2011. He entered law school coming off undergraduate work and focused on developing practical skills in clinics and in-class projects. Those early practical experiences shaped his approach to client work and courtroom preparation.
After graduation, Strief joined Elverson Vasey as a lawyer in 2014. He became a member of the State Bar of Iowa that same year and has maintained that membership to the present. Over the next several years he handled a steady docket of matters at the firm. The experience he accumulated in those first years prepared him for a leadership role within the firm.
In 2021 he was elevated to partner at Elverson Vasey. As a partner he has taken on additional responsibility for case management, mentoring newer attorneys, and collaborating on firm strategy. Colleagues describe him as methodical in his preparation and direct in his courtroom presentation. He balances trial work and client counseling, dividing his time between research, negotiation and appearances in court.
Strief is licensed to practice law in Iowa and maintains active standing with the State Bar of Iowa. He handles filings, hearings and client intake across the firm’s Iowa practice. Outside the office he attends continuing legal education seminars and participates in firm-led training sessions aimed at developing procedural and evidentiary skills among associates.
Clients and peers see him as a steady presence at Elverson Vasey. He has been part of the firm through expansions in staff and caseload, and he has been involved in supervising junior attorneys and coordinating discovery efforts on larger matters. His day-to-day work involves drafting pleadings, arguing motions and advising clients on procedural steps in state court matters.
He continues to work from Elverson Vasey’s offices in Iowa. He currently focuses his practice on serving clients throughout Iowa through his work at Elverson Vasey.
