About Joshua RI

Joshua RI Cohen earned his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2007. He completed a legal education that prepared him for practice in two New England jurisdictions. His academic record provided a foundation for work on behalf of individual consumers and in bankruptcy matters.

After law school, Cohen became admitted to practice in both Connecticut and Vermont. Over the years he has maintained active involvement in professional organizations that align with consumer law and bankruptcy practice. He joined the National Association of Consumer Advocates in 2008 and became a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers in 2011. Those memberships reflect an ongoing engagement with practitioner communities that address consumer rights, debt relief, and related litigation.

Cohen’s early career included courtroom appearances and client counseling typical for attorneys handling consumer financial issues. He has represented individuals in matters arising from debt collection, bankruptcy filings, and disputes over consumer accounts. His work has involved both adversarial proceedings and negotiated resolutions. He has advised clients on options under federal bankruptcy statutes as well as on state-law remedies that affect consumers.

Colleagues describe Cohen as methodical in preparing cases and practical in guiding clients through complex procedures. He combines courtroom experience with routine client intake and case management. That balance allows him to move cases forward efficiently while keeping clients informed of the practical trade-offs they face. He has developed familiarity with the operational and procedural aspects of consumer bankruptcy practice in Connecticut and Vermont courts.

Cohen has also benefited from participation in continuing education and professional gatherings through the national organizations he joined. Those forums have offered exposure to evolving bankruptcy rules and to litigation strategies used by both debtors and creditors. Membership in peer groups has provided opportunities to review precedent, discuss procedural developments, and exchange best practices with other consumer-law attorneys.

Today Cohen’s practice centers on consumer bankruptcy and consumer protection matters. He takes on cases that require knowledge of the bankruptcy code, state consumer statutes, and the interplay between federal and state proceedings. He remains active in professional circles that focus on those areas of law and continues to represent individuals navigating debt relief and consumer disputes.
