About Joshua P
Joshua P Bruner completed his legal education at the University of Washington School of Law, earning his J.D. in 2019. He holds a B.S. from Idaho State University, awarded in 2011. His time in law school followed earlier service and internships with the United States Army, where he began working as a law student and intern in 2016.
After law school, Bruner continued ties to the military legal system. In 2020 he served on the Army's Covid-19 Response Team as a lawyer and also provided legal assistance to service members. Those roles placed him in high-pressure settings that required quick legal research and practical advice for clients facing novel public-health and administrative questions.
Bruner moved into public defense in 2021 as an associate criminal defense lawyer at North County Public Defense. There he worked directly on client representation in criminal matters, gaining courtroom experience and handling case preparation. In 2022 his practice expanded into both private criminal defense and civil defense. He joined Vindicate Criminal Law as an associate and also served as an associate civil defense lawyer at Scheer Law, PLLC. Those positions exposed him to a mix of trial work, motion practice, and client counseling across different areas of litigation.
In 2023 Bruner shifted his practice to family law when he became an associate at Envision Family Law. The move marked a transition from criminal and civil defense into work that often involves long-term client relationships and negotiation. He brings to family law the procedural experience of criminal litigation and the client-facing skills developed in public defense and military legal assistance.
Bruner is admitted to practice in Wyoming and Washington. His background spans military legal work, public defense, civil defense, and family law. He has experience in courtroom advocacy, pretrial litigation, and advising clients through administrative processes. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and straightforward in courtroom presentation. He currently practices at Envision Family Law and handles family law matters including divorce, custody, and related post-judgment issues.
