About Joshua L.
Joshua L. Seifert built a legal path that began in the humanities and moved steadily into litigation. He graduated from Pomona College in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He then earned a law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving his J.D. in 2005.
After law school he entered private practice. In 2006 he joined Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP as an associate. That position placed him in one of the nation’s larger law firms during a period of significant commercial and regulatory litigation. He spent the early years of his legal career there, gaining courtroom and transactional exposure that would shape his later work.
In 2013 he left to found Seifert pllc. He established the firm to provide an independent platform for his practice. The move to a smaller, lawyer-led firm allowed him to steer cases and client strategy more directly. Since founding the practice he has managed the business side of the firm while handling matters in court.
He is admitted to practice in California and New York. He also holds admission to federal appellate courts, including the Ninth and Second Circuits. Those admissions reflect courtroom work at both the trial and appellate levels. They have enabled him to handle appeals that cross state lines and to appear before federal panels when cases advance beyond the district courts.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and direct in litigation settings. He is known for preparing detailed briefs and for taking a careful approach to oral argument. His experience at a large national firm and at his own practice gives him a blend of both institutional and small-firm perspectives. That combination informs how he evaluates cases, structures teams and communicates with clients.
Outside the courtroom he has remained involved in professional circles since the late 2000s. He maintains memberships in bar and legal organizations and participates in the professional life of the firms he has worked with. He has continued to cultivate relationships across state and federal practice communities.
Today he runs Seifert pllc, handling matters that require representation in state and federal courts and in appellate proceedings. He currently concentrates his practice on litigation and appellate work in both state and federal forums.
