About Joshua James
Joshua James Knepp built a legal path that began in the classroom and moved quickly into the courtroom. He earned a B.A. in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2000 and later received a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Those academic foundations shaped his interest in how law, facts and procedure intersect.
Early in his career Knepp combined courtroom work with community involvement. He has served as a judge pro tem for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, handling matters on the bench when called. That role gave him regular exposure to trial practice from the judge’s perspective. It also reinforced his working knowledge of Pennsylvania’s court procedures.
Knepp is a principal at Morris Wilson Knepp Jacquette, P.C., where he practices in state courts across Pennsylvania. At the firm he has worked on civil matters that require both trial preparation and courtroom presence. His day-to-day work moves between motion practice, discovery strategy and in-person hearings. Colleagues say he is methodical in preparing a file and persistent in pursuing resolution through litigation when appropriate.
His professional involvement extends beyond casework. Knepp holds leadership and committee positions in local bar circles. He serves as Vice-Chair of the Montgomery Bar Association’s Medical-Legal Committee and is a member of the Montgomery Bar Association, the Montgomery Bar Association’s Trial Lawyers Section, its Bench Bar Committee and its Civil Rules Committee. He is also a fellow of the Montgomery Bar Foundation and a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Those roles keep him engaged in rule discussions, continuing legal education and community legal initiatives.
On the calendar he balances private practice duties with his pro tem judicial service and committee commitments. That combination keeps him rooted in courtroom practice while contributing to local legal governance. He maintains an active practice license in Pennsylvania and appears regularly in county courts. His current practice at Morris Wilson Knepp Jacquette, P.C. concentrates on litigation in Pennsylvania courts.
