About Josephine Pesaresi
Josephine Pesaresi Hallam earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Civilization from Brown University in 1990. She completed her legal education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving a J.D. in 1997. Those academic years set a course toward courtroom practice and public defense work.
She began her legal career in 1997 as a trial attorney at the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office. In that role she handled criminal cases in state court and gained hands-on trial experience early in her career. The position exposed her to fast-paced dockets and a heavy caseload. It also shaped her approach to courtroom preparation and client communication.
After her time in the public defender’s office she moved into private practice. Her work has included representation in Arizona state courts, and she is admitted to practice in the state of Arizona and before the Federal Circuit. Those admissions reflect a practice that spans trial work in state venues and matters that can extend to federal appellate proceedings.
Hallam is active in the local legal community. She has been a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association since 2018 and joined the Arizona Women’s Law Association the same year. The memberships place her in professional networks that address continuing education, local court rules and peer collaboration.
She leads Hallam Law Group, PLLC. The firm handles cases for clients in Arizona and manages filings and appearances where matters reach the Federal Circuit. Her background as a trial attorney informs case strategy, evidence presentation and witness preparation. She balances courtroom work with client counseling, taking on matters that require both contested hearings and careful legal drafting.
Colleagues describe her as steady in the courtroom and attentive to case details. She continues to maintain ties to the public defense community through professional contacts and occasional collaboration on matters that benefit from trial-proven advocacy. Her current practice focuses on representation in Arizona state courts and matters before the Federal Circuit.
