Josephanie Renee Ackman is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1997. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. Ackman is the principal attorney at The Franco Law Firm, PC, located at 8549 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 5094, Beverly Hills, CA 90211. She has been practicing law for over 28 years, serving clients throughout Southern California.
Ms. Ackman earned her Juris Doctor degree from the American University Washington College of Law in 1996. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at Loyola Marymount University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising in 1988. During her time at Loyola Marymount, she also pursued studies in advertising design and photography at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.
Ms. Ackman's practice areas include federal Indian law, child abuse, education law, transactional law, and juvenile dependency. She represents clients in various legal stages, including litigation, appeals, negotiations, and trials. Her work often involves complex legal issues related to the Indian Child Welfare Act and other federal regulations affecting Native American communities.
Throughout her career, Ms. Ackman has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. In addition to her private practice, she served as an attorney fellow at the California Indian Legal Services in Escondido, CA, from 1998 to 2000, and as an attorney at the Children's Law Center of California in Monterey Park, CA, from 2000 to 2015. She also served as a judge pro tem for the Los Angeles Superior Court from 2011 to 2013.
Ms. Ackman is an active member of the California Lawyers Association and the Volunteer Lawyer's Association. She has been recognized by Marquis Who's Who for her contributions to the legal field. In addition to her legal practice, she is the founder of The Bubble Asylum, Inc., a business specializing in handcrafted bath products. She is also involved in animal rescue and rehabilitation, volunteering with organizations such as the Pickle Pants Dog Rescue and Love Leo Rescue. Ms. Ackman is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and French, enabling her to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
