About Joseph

Joseph Wyckoff built his path to law from two different classrooms. He studied Public Relations and Rhetorical Advocacy at Purdue University, then earned a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2017. The combination of communication training and legal education set the tone for a practice that moves between courtroom argument and client counseling.

He began his legal career at the Marion County Public Defender Agency in 2017. There he represented clients facing criminal charges and handled the day-to-day work that follows—arraignments, pretrial motions, and plea discussions. The public defender role exposed him to heavy caseloads and fast-paced litigation, and it gave him practical courtroom time early in his career.

In 2019 he transitioned to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office as a deputy prosecutor. In that role he stood on the other side of criminal matters, bringing complaints through charging decisions, conducting hearings, and presenting matters in front of judges and juries. Serving as a prosecutor added a different set of responsibilities: managing investigations, coordinating with law enforcement, and preparing cases for trial.

In 2021 he joined Banks & Brower, LLC as a lawyer. At the firm he has applied perspectives gained in both defense and prosecution. That experience allows him to assess cases from multiple angles and to advise clients on realistic outcomes. He also maintains current membership in professional legal associations, staying engaged with developments in Indiana law and courtroom practice.

Colleagues say he is practical in negotiations and methodical in preparing evidence and witnesses for court. He places emphasis on clear communication with clients, explaining options and risks rather than promising outcomes. Outside the courtroom he continues to draw on his undergraduate training in rhetoric and public relations when crafting strategies for hearings and trials. He practices in Indiana and has handled a range of criminal matters over the course of his career. He currently practices at Banks & Brower, LLC and focuses on criminal defense and courtroom litigation.
