About Joseph Wideman

Joseph Wideman Jr. earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2016. He completed the rigorous course of study typical of a modern law graduate and entered the profession in the years that followed. The law school years shaped his legal thinking. They also provided a foundation in litigation and client counseling that he has built on in practice.

After law school, Wideman began practicing law in the Carolinas. He is authorized to practice in both South Carolina and North Carolina. Over time he has worked from regional offices and developed experience handling client matters across state lines. His career path has kept him rooted in the communities where he works, offering continuity to clients who seek local counsel with familiarity of state procedures and courts.

Wideman’s work covers a range of client needs handled through a firm environment. He assists individuals and businesses on matters presented to the firm, attends court hearings, prepares pleadings and negotiates resolutions when that serves a client’s interest. He balances courtroom advocacy and client advising, adapting his approach to each matter’s demands. Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and straightforward in communication, preferring clear explanations over legal jargon.

He practices from offices in Columbia and Hartsville, operating out of Atkins Law Office. Those offices serve as bases for work across South Carolina and North Carolina. He divides his time between client meetings, court appearances and the drafting of legal documents. His schedule reflects the regional nature of his practice and the practical needs of clients who require representation in nearby jurisdictions. He currently practices at Atkins Law Office, serving clients from its Columbia and Hartsville locations and handling legal matters in South Carolina and North Carolina.
