About Joseph
Joseph Weinberger built a steady legal path from liberal arts college to the trial bench. He graduated from Colby College in 1985 with a B.A. in political science and earned his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1988. Those years set the stage for a career that mixes courtroom work, bar activity and civic legal service.
He began his practice as an associate at Fonda & Garrard in 1988. By 1991 he had opened his own firm, serving as principal of The Weinberger Law Office, P.C. He also became active in national and state trial lawyer groups early on, joining the American Association for Justice and several consumer law organizations in the early 1990s.
Licensing and court admissions came quickly. He was admitted to practice in California in 1988 and gained admission to multiple federal district courts in 1989. He is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit and remains authorized in all California state courts. Those credentials have supported both private practice and periodic judicial duties.
Since 1998 he has served as judge pro tem in several county superior courts, including Sacramento, El Dorado and Placer. That role has placed him in a different seat from time to time, handling calendars and presiding over matters when the regular bench required assistance. The pro tem work runs alongside his ongoing practice and bar involvement rather than replacing it.
His bar and association work has been consistent. He has been an active member of the Sacramento County Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He has held multiple posts in the Capital City Trial Lawyers Association, serving on the board of directors, acting as judicial liaison and program committee member, handling media relations and serving a term as secretary from 2015 to 2016. He also maintains memberships in Consumer Attorneys groups and federal court bars across California.
At The Weinberger Law Office, P.C., he has overseen a range of civil litigation matters for decades. His practice experience spans courtroom appearances, motions practice and case management across state and federal venues. He balances trial work with occasional service as judge pro tem and sustained involvement in trial lawyer associations. He currently practices at The Weinberger Law Office, P.C., representing clients in civil litigation in California and before the Ninth Circuit.
