About Joseph Thomas Gibbons

Joseph Thomas Gibbons Jr. earned his Juris Doctorate from Pacific Coast University, School of Law. He began his legal journey after completing law school and built a career that spans state and federal courts. Early on, Gibbons combined public service and private practice, moving between courtroom work, temporary judicial duties and military reserve service.

Gibbons served as Judge Pro Tem for the West Orange County Superior Court. That role put him on the bench for assigned matters and offered a direct view of courtroom procedures, evidentiary issues and case management from the judge’s perspective. The experience informs his courtroom presence and motion practice when he returns to represent clients.

Beyond the courthouse, Gibbons has served in both the United States Army Reserve and the United States Coast Guard Reserve. Those assignments are part of a broader record of public service and discipline that he has carried into his civilian legal career. He also holds admission to several federal and state forums, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, and the California state bar.

Colleagues and peers note Gibbons’s high AVVO rating. He holds a 10.0 score on that platform, a metric based on peer reviews, client feedback and professional achievements. He maintains professional ties through active membership in the South East District Bar Association. That affiliation places him in regular contact with local judges and other lawyers and keeps him engaged with regional developments in practice and procedure.

Gibbons practices at Gibbons & Gibbons. At the firm he handles matters that require appearances in both state and federal courts, and he draws on his bench experience when preparing and arguing contested issues. His background gives clients a blend of courtroom familiarity and an understanding of federal practice across multiple districts.

Over the years Gibbons has balanced work in private practice with stints in public service and military reserve duty. That mix of roles has shaped the way he approaches client matters and courtroom strategy. He currently practices at Gibbons & Gibbons, handling litigation and court matters in state and federal courts.
