About Joseph
Joseph Damiens built a legal path that crosses finance, tax law and estate planning. He earned a B.B.A. in Finance from Mississippi State University in 2004, took his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law in 2011, and added an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2014. Those credentials shape the work he does now.
He began practicing law after law school and launched Damiens Law Office, PLLC in 2011. Over the years he has handled matters in state and federal forums. He is admitted to practice in Mississippi and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi. He also appears before the United States Tax Court and the Court of Appeals of Mississippi. In 2022 he gained admission to the Tennessee Bar, expanding the jurisdictions where he can take cases.
Damiens’s training in taxation informs much of his daily work. The LL.M. in Taxation involved advanced study of federal tax law, and his practice reflects that background. He handles tax controversies, planning for business owners, and the tax elements of estate administration. Colleagues and clients encounter him most often on matters that combine tax rules with probate or trust administration.
Professional associations are part of his routine. He maintains membership in the Mississippi State Bar and sits in the Trust & Estate and Taxation sections of the bar. He is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Mississippi and belongs to the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers. These organizations offer forums for keeping current on statutory changes and case law that affect clients’ financial and estate decisions.
Operating from Damiens Law Office, PLLC, he manages files that range from straightforward estate plans to contested probate and tax litigation. His work requires drafting wills and trusts, advising fiduciaries, negotiating resolutions with tax authorities and representing clients in court when disputes arise. He combines courtroom experience with planning work to address problems before they become litigation.
Clients who consult him typically need help resolving tax disputes, organizing assets for future transfer, or guiding estates through probate. He balances document drafting and dispute resolution in his daily caseload. He currently practices tax, estate and probate law at Damiens Law Office, PLLC.
