About Joseph D
Joseph D Lento practices law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Villanova University in 1999 and took his law degree at Temple University, receiving a J.D. in 2008. His academic path combined political study and legal training, a background that informs his courtroom and casework approach.
Early in his legal career he spent time working at the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania in 2003. That experience exposed him to the operations of the court system and to the day-to-day flow of criminal dockets and judicial procedures. After law school he returned to private practice and in 2008 opened Lento Law Office, where he serves as owner and attorney.
He is admitted to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Over the years he has handled a range of criminal matters and represented clients in municipal and state courts. He has experience preparing cases for trial, advising clients on plea options and representing them at hearings. He has also worked on pretrial motions and post-conviction issues as part of his practice.
Lento maintains active involvement in professional organizations. He is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He was a founding member of the Philadelphia Criminal Law American Inn of Court and holds memberships in the Philadelphia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Those affiliations reflect an ongoing engagement with defense practice and with colleagues who litigate criminal cases in the region.
Colleagues and clients describe him as accessible and practical in court preparations. He balances case strategy with attention to procedural detail. His office handles arraignments, pretrial litigation and contested hearings, and it represents clients through both plea negotiations and trials where necessary.
He continues to operate Lento Law Office as owner and attorney, handling criminal defense work across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. His current practice focuses on criminal defense in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
