About Joseph
Joseph Coughlan trained as a litigator at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, earning his J.D. in 2015. He moved quickly into hands-on legal work after law school. Early internships and support roles gave him a steady grounding in courtroom procedure and claims practice.
Fresh out of law school in 2015 he served as an interning law clerk for the Office of the Judges of Compensation Claims. That same year he worked at Thorne & Associates, P.A., where he handled matters that exposed him to client intake and case preparation. In 2014 he had worked as a legal assistant at Fulmer LeRoy & Albee, PLLC and completed a summer legal internship at Orange County Public Schools. A prior summer internship in 2013 at Troutman, Williams, Irvin, Green, Helms & Polich, P.A. preceded law school and provided early courtroom observation and practical office experience.
After his initial post-graduate roles, Coughlan joined Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A. in 2016. He spent that period deepening his experience in defense-oriented work and insurance-related matters. In 2018 he moved to Gee & Lee, PLLC, taking on a broader caseload and more direct client responsibilities. Those positions gave him repeated exposure to litigation strategy, depositions and negotiation practices.
In 2020 he opened his own firm, Coughlan's Law, PLLC. Leading a small practice meant managing all aspects of a case file from intake through resolution. He continued to represent clients in contested matters while overseeing office operations.
