About Jordan

Jordan Bock combines a rigorous academic background with a sequence of federal clerkships that shaped his early legal work. He earned an A.B. in Physics and Astrophysics from Harvard University in 2010 and completed his J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2017. Those years established both a scientific and legal foundation for handling technically complex questions and detailed legal analysis.

Bock entered the federal clerkship circuit immediately after law school. He served on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 2017, then clerked for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California in 2018. In 2019 he worked at the Supreme Court of the United States as a law clerk. Each position exposed him to appellate and trial-level work and to the procedural demands of federal litigation.

After completing his Supreme Court clerkship, Bock joined Goodwin Procter LLP as an associate in 2020. He has been a member of the California State Bar since 2018. The sequence of clerkships followed by private practice is a common path for attorneys who handle complex federal and appellate matters, and Bock’s résumé reflects that trajectory.

Those experiences translated into practical skills: intensive legal research, drafting dispositive motions and appellate briefs, and preparing judges and litigators for argument. Working across district, circuit and Supreme Court dockets required an ability to distill dense records into concise legal theories and to identify controlling authority under tight deadlines. His scientific undergraduate training also informs how he approaches technical evidence and expert testimony when those issues arise.

Colleagues describe his work as careful and methodical. He has balanced the demands of clerking for three different federal benches with the responsibilities of private practice. He remains based in California and continues to work on matters that draw on his appellate and federal experience. He practices litigation and appeals at Goodwin Procter LLP in California.
