About Jonathan R.
Jonathan R. Whitehead took a traditional path into law but has carved his own route since graduating. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Economics and Finance, from Southwest Baptist University in 1997. He then completed his J.D. at Harvard Law School in 2001. Those years provided classroom rigor and an introduction to the legal professions that followed.
He began his post-law-school career in firm practice. In 2004 he joined Sonnenchein Nath & Rosenthal as an associate. Two years later he moved to Graves Bartle & Marcus LLC, again serving as an associate. Those early roles gave him the day-to-day experience of firm life and exposure to the practical demands of running matters on behalf of clients.
In 2008 he opened his own firm, the Law Offices of Jonathan R. Whitehead LLC. As owner, he shifted from employee to principal. Building and managing a practice required different skills than those he exercised as an associate. He has overseen client matters, administrative responsibilities, and the business side of a small law office.
Outside the office, Whitehead has been active in professional organizations. He has been a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association since 2004. Since 2008 he has served as president of the Kansas City Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society, a leadership role he continues to hold. That position places him in regular contact with judges, lawyers, and law students in the region and keeps him engaged in conversations about legal principles and public policy.
Whitehead practices in Missouri and has centered his career in the Kansas City area. His educational background in business and law informs the practical approach he brings to client matters. He maintains his firm and its operations in the state where he is licensed to practice. He currently practices law in Missouri through the Law Offices of Jonathan R. Whitehead LLC.
