About Jonathan R.

Jonathan R. Currie built his path to law through Chicago-area schools. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from DePaul University before completing a J.D. at Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Law school shaped his approach to counsel and courtroom preparation. It offered the practical training and the doctrinal foundation that lawyers rely on in everyday practice.

After law school he entered private practice. In 2022 he joined Katz, Friedman, Eisenstein, Johnson, Bareck & Bertuca. The move placed him in a firm known in the region for handling a range of civil matters. At the firm he has engaged in the tasks that define contemporary legal work: legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, preparing clients for hearings, and managing case files.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in his preparation and clear in his writing. He takes a straight approach to problem solving. He breaks complex legal questions into parts and addresses them in plain terms. That approach helps in client meetings and when producing documents that judges and opposing counsel can follow.

His training at Chicago-Kent gave him exposure to trial techniques and motion practice. DePaul added a broader liberal arts perspective that he says improved his analytical habits. Together those experiences inform how he evaluates risk for a client and how he plans next steps in a case. He does not rely on broad claims. He focuses on the evidence and the applicable law.

Since joining Katz, Friedman, Eisenstein, Johnson, Bareck & Bertuca in 2022, he has worked alongside partners and associates across a variety of matters. Day to day that has meant preparing discovery, counseling clients about process and timeline, and coordinating with experts when required. He also contributes to the firm’s internal case management and client intake procedures.

Outside of casework he maintains a practice routine that emphasizes organization and continuous learning. He attends firm trainings and follows court decisions that could affect ongoing matters. He is practical about the limits of litigation and often looks for procedural advantages that advance a client’s position without unnecessary expense.

He is presently an attorney at Katz, Friedman, Eisenstein, Johnson, Bareck & Bertuca, where his practice centers on representing the firm’s clients through case preparation, advocacy and counsel.
